Working Together Third Sector Capacity Building Project
Certificate in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector (CTLLS)
Bursary information
As part of the Regional Voluntary Sector Capacity Building Project, funds are being made available to assist individuals, working as teacher, tutor or trainer practitioners in the Third Sector, to undertake the new “Certificate in Teaching in the Life Long Learning Sector” (CTLLS) qualification.
WEA, on behalf of COVER, will be delivering a CTLLS qualification that has been contextualised for Third Sector and adult and community learning teaching practitioners designed specifically for those individuals who have already successfully completed and achieved PTLLS at Level 3 or 4.
COVER, with funding from the Learning and Skills Council, Eastern Region, are offering financial bursary support towards the full cost of the CTLLS qualification. Twenty four bursaries will be offered across the region for places on two courses beginning in September 2009.
Please note: A maximum of two bursaries will be awarded per organisation.
Any organisation that has employees currently accessing the CTLLS being delivered in Chesterton, Cambridge will only be allowed two bursaries in total, however, additional employees from an organisation can attend the course at the rate of £850 per learner.
Course delivery is over 2 modules (7 sessions beginning in September 2009, followed by 7 sessions beginning January 2010).
Dates for the course being delivered at COVER are:
Module 1: 16th, 30th September, 12th October, 3rd November, 17th November, 1st, 15th December
Module 2: 12th, 26th January, 9th, 23rd February, 9th, 23rd March, 6th April
Third Sector teaching practitioners who wish to undertake the qualification and who meet the eligibility criteria (below) are requested to complete the CTLLS bursary application form and WEA Application Form, and return it to COVER, Eagle Stile, Rectory Farm Barns, Walden Road, Little Chesterford, Essex, CB10 1UD or email to nikki.bennett@cover-east.org as soon as possible.

Bursary Fund Eligibility Criteria for CTLLS Qualification
- A maximum of two bursary applications per organisation will be considered, however, additional employees may attend either of the courses at a cost of £850 per learner.
- Applicants must be employed, or be volunteering, within a Third Sector organisation.
- Applicants must be working in organisations in the Eastern Region; Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire / Peterborough, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire/Luton or Essex/Southend/Thurrock.
- Applicants must already hold a PTLLS qualification (at L3 or L4) and be able to provide evidence of this, to the course provider, prior to starting the course.
- Applicants must be able to demonstrate, via a job description, that their role includes delivering learning in group settings and be able to provide information relating to their teaching role in order to facilitate the teaching observation.
- Applicants must, during the period of the course (1 academic year), be delivering a minimum of 30 hours learning/tuition in a group setting.
- Applicants must be able to provide evidence of literacy and numeracy at Level 2 - various forms of evidence can be used as agreed acceptable by the course provider.
- Applicants must be paid up members of the Institute for Learning (IFL) or register prior to the course.
- Applicants must attend all sessions, over both semesters, and complete all observations and assignments to achieve the qualification.
- Applicants must complete the qualification during the timeframe of the course delivery and inform COVER when the qualification has been achieved.
- Once registered, if a learner pulls out of the course or does not complete a submission for assessment, their organisation will be invoiced for the sum of £200 to cover administration and registration costs.
