News - The Big Skill

Showcase - 17th June

As most of you are now probably aware, the LSC in conjunction with BBC East will be holding a showcase event on the 17th June in Ipswich town centre, where by providers will have the opportunity to show of their learners, skills and ware’s.

The LSC are looking for providers who would be willing to man market stalls on the day, showcasing their curriculums. For instance last year in Norwich the college filled a stall with hairdressing apprenticeships and offered the public free cuts.

As well as this the BBC would welcome learners who would be willing to showcase their skills on the main stage or in the market place. (Again last year 2 of the college provided dance acts who demonstrated their skills to the general public, whilst one college also hosted a fashion show of their students works.) (For those of you in involved in media, there is the opportunity for learners to perform on the main stage as solo artists/bands and they will have the opportunity to be heard by thousands, as BBC Suffolk will be broadcasting during the day.)

So if you would be willing to man a stall (No cost to yourself and we will be looking at reimbursing parking as well as looking at issuing lunch vouchers.) Please let me know. This is an ideal opportunity to show the public of Suffolk what you all do so well.

I only have limited spaces, so I will be looking for a variety of demonstrations and those that are particularly visual (i.e. if I have 3 providers offer hairdressing I will need to weigh up the odds as to which provider we go with.)

If you wish to talk more regards the event please feel free to call me on 01473 883016.

Kind regards
