News - Job Centre Plus Conference

Working Towards Brighter Futures

Job Centre Plus would like to invite you to the ’Working Towards Brighter Futures’ conference on 11 March, 10:00-15:30, at Rowley Mile Conference Centre, Rowley Mile Racecourse, Newmarket, Suffolk, CB8 0TF.

The event aims to promote awareness of the range of support and initiatives that Jobcentre Plus has introduced to help unemployed people find work. Additionally, we shall share with you future developments and ongoing initiatives within our Customer Services and Benefit Delivery Directorates.

Stakeholders from a wide range of organisations will be in attendance including statutory and public bodies, voluntary and community sectors. I hope that you will find that the day provides the opportunity to network with other organisations.

In the afternoon you will hear about specialist services introduced to help those more disadvantaged in the work place for example support for people with caring responsibilities, mental health conditions, drug dependencies and disabilities.

More details, including an agenda and relevant papers will be sent nearer the time. I have included overleaf the draft aims for the day. Aim

To promote awareness and understanding of the wide range of support and initiatives available to people using Jobcentre Plus services and to provide an insight into future developments within the organisation

Objectives

  • Increase knowledge and awareness of the Jobcentre Plus programmes and services to support unemployed people with their journey back to work, including specialist support for people disadvantaged in the labour market
  • Increase understanding of how Jobcentre Plus works with the Learning and Skills Council to provide vocational training to upskill unemployed people improving their opportunities to find and sustain employment
  • To find out about changes and modernisation plans within our Benefit Delivery service.
