Update -
1st June
2010
As a
result
of
contracting
changes
brought
about by
the new
government,
resulting
in the
withdrawal
of
up-front
payments
for new
contracts,
learn
EAST has
decided
to not
take up
the
contract
with
3SC.
However,
if you
are able
to take
on a
work
placement
(fully
funded),
please
contact
Silvia
Moncada
at CSV
as they
have an
existing
contract
and are
seeking
organisation
for work
placements.
What
is the
Future
Jobs
Fund?
The
Fund was
announced
in
Budget
2009 and
the
money is
to be
spent
between
October
2009 and
March
2011.
The fund
is run
by the
Department
for Work
and
Pensions
(DWP) in
partnership
with the
Department
for
Communities
and
Local
Government
(CLG)
and with
input
from
Jobcentre
Plus
Regional
Government
Offices
in
England
and
Devolved
Administrations
in
Scotland
and
Wales.
The Fund
aims to
create
170,000
additional
jobs,
primarily
aimed at
18-24
year
olds who
have
been out
of work
for
nearly a
year to
deliver
real
benefits
to
communities.
The
Future
Jobs
Fund is
a part
of the
Young
Person’s
Guarantee.
From
early
2010,
everyone
in
between
the ages
of 18
and 24
who has
been
looking
for work
for a
year
will get
an offer
of a
job,
work
experience,
or
training
lasting
at least
6
months.
We are
specifically
targeting
50,000
jobs in
unemployment
hotspots
and
expect
around
10,000
of the
170,000
jobs
created
to be
green
jobs.
Work
Placements
Needed
in
Suffolk
COVER,
as lead
of
learn
EAST,
has been
selected
by
3SC
(Third
Sector
Consortia
Management
LLP) as
a
sub-contractor
to
create
jobs in
East
Anglia
through
the
learning
consortia
partners
in 2010.
We know
that in
the 2009
funding,
through
Suffolk
County
Council,
a number
of Third
Sector
organisations
in
Suffolk
took
advantage
of
having 6
month
work
placements
funded
through
the
Future
Jobs
Fund and
therefore
expect
that
many of
these
organisations,
together
with
some new
ones,
will
take up
the
offer of
a work
placement
this
year.
If your
organisation
would be
interested
in
taking
on a
work
placement
(fully
funded),
or would
like to
know
more
about
this
offer,
please
Contact
Us.
To
further
support
our
involvement
in
trying
to
reduce
unemployment,
we are
working
with
Suffolk
County
Council
to try
and
produce
a
structured
scheme
which
will
enable
to have
a six
month
work
placement
which if
successful
(to both
employer
and
employee)
could
lead on
to an
Apprenticeship.
