About Us
The Suffolk Learning Consortium was formed
in April 2007 as a Suffolk LSC / ESF funded project,
to help prepare the Third Sector
in Suffolk for the forthcoming changes to LSC
(and other public) funding.
The project included a number of targets to support
the Third Sector
in consortia working, and address various
issues relating to the sector, and included the
following:
"To create a Third Sector
Learning and Skills Consortium involving Third
Sector organisations and other learning agencies to
co-ordinate learning and skills activities across
the county to include: |

- bringing together information on learning
and skills initiatives, learning ladders and
resources via a one-stop website, e-bulletins
and published guides
- creating 4 working parties to co-ordinate
activities / develop initiatives in assisting
youth organisations’ to develop resources and
raise quality standards to work with more young
people, particularly NEET; raising quality
standards, building capacity of smaller and new
groups and helping groups to meet the Common
Inspection Framework; Third Sector response to skills for
life and entry into employment qualifications;
using the Consortium as a model for developing a
Managed Network
- develop leadership and management courses
and qualifications
- develop models and processes for future
Third Sector LSC and other partnership bids, encouraging
collaboration, credibility, performing and
competitive bidding
- link Consortium work to Block 4 targets and
feed into planning and IAG processes
- create a wider consortium membership."

Our Mission . . .
to provide a mutually beneficial consortium
structure for Third Sector
learning providers in Suffolk, in order to support
and enable all member organisations to access
funding, develop their capacity and achieve high
standards of quality and performance in meeting the
needs of learners and in tackling disadvantage and
advancing equity and social inclusion. Our Vision

be a lead consortium in Suffolk for the strategic
development of effective learning and skills
development in the Third Sector.
Our Aims
- To promote the interests of the Suffolk
Third Sector to key strategic and other bodies in the field
of learning and skills development
- To support the development of Third Sector organisations as users and providers
of learning and skills development
- To promote collaboration and act as a
co-ordinator of partnership bids to attract SFA
and other relevant learning and skills funding
- To ensure that the Third Sector workforce is fully
skilled and equipped to deal with the demands of
the Third Sector by the provision of high quality
learning and skills opportunities.
