Creating and embedding a learning culture in
Suffolk’s Third Sector front line organisations

Funding - Funding and Development Work

Each Local Infrastructure Partner organisation will be given £3,500 a year for developing their funding and development work, submitting plans before the start of each year as to how the money will be spent.

This Year 2010/11 2009/10     Process

In the third year (2011/12) the following work will be undertaken:

Ipswich and District Council for Voluntary Service (incl. BCT East)

  • A Funding Event to enable all attendees to use their time effectively by listening to a ‘snapshot’ of Speakers from Funding and Development Organisations followed by One2One Support Opportunities
  • Specific Funding Event co-ordinated by the LIP in partnership with ICVS, delivered by the Big Lottery for the Reaching Communities Programme
  • Outreach Funding Surgery in North West Ipswich
  • Completing Funding Applications Workshop
  • To seek / sign-up Funding Mentors and Good Practice Funding Bids.

Mid Suffolk Action in Partnership

  • To enable individuals and the groups they are involved with to understand the importance of Project Planning within their Projects. This will encourage improved thinking around developing robust and sustainable Plans and to work towards successful funding applications through the provision of Funding Surgeries
  • Project Planning Workshop
  • Funding Surgeries & 1-2-1 Support Sessions
  • To seek / sign-up Funding Mentors and Good Practice Funding Bids.

Suffolk Coastal Resource Network

  • Workshops in Coastal for Parish Councils and community groups on ‘taking parish plans to the next steps’.
  • Two half days sessions on specific funding and development for village halls
  • One half day Introduction to Finance course
  • Two courses in Completing Application Forms
  • One course in Managing Risk
  • To seek / sign-up Funding Mentors and Good Practice Funding Bids.

Waveney Community Forum

  • 2 x Procurement & commissioning workshop with information packs
  • Personalisation Agenda training workshop
  • Social Enterprise / CIC workshop
  • To seek / sign-up Funding Mentors and Good Practice Funding Bids.

West Suffolk Consortium for Voluntary Organisations (incl. BCT West)

  • Monthly funding and development advice surgeries (six) across the area, BSE, Haverhill, Sudbury, Newmarket
  • Working with Young Suffolk to promote Quality standards
  • Resources for fundraising i.e. Directory of Grant Making Trusts, Voluntary not Amateur, licences for Funderfinder, etc.
  • Accredited training for 10 Third Sector groups on governance and training needs for their organisations, (Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury)
  • Promotion of toolkits to voluntary and community organisations by workshops, seminars, e-mail briefings and 1:1 funding and development surgeries (Forest Heath and St Edmundsbury)
  • To seek / sign-up Funding Mentors and Good Practice Funding Bids.

Young Suffolk

  • 3 x introductory training sessions for frontline organisations in association with the Local Infrastructure Partnerships, focussing on the Young Suffolk Lite Quality Standards
  • Provide mentoring support for two Local Infrastructure Partners in order that a member of their staff can be trained to support an organisation through the Lite Quality Standard
  • To seek / sign-up Funding Mentors and Good Practice Funding Bids.
